The Middle East is an area where vehicle is king and fuel is low-cost, frequently leaving little incentive to discover more environmentally-friendly ways of walking around.
But this year, as protests across the Middle East have actually pressed up the price of oil, the concern of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.
In an area that has one of the greatest carbon footprints on the planet, one company is taking benefit of the growing pressure to discover options to oil. It's established the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving successful too, already their client-list consists of McDonald's.
